Antibes

Antibes

Antibes is just a short train ride away from Nice.  It's got a fantastic old-town too, along with a charming old castle overlooking the harbor, and an old Chateau dating back to the Grimaldi family (those would be the founders of Monaco, circa 1200's). The Chateau sits on a hill overlooking the harbor, above old-town, and was gifted to the town of Antibes and then offered to Picasso as a workshop in the late 1940's, eventually being converted fully into the Musée de Picasso.  All the pieces he completed there during that time he gifted back to the city, thus the establishment of the museum. The museum was outstanding, and I actually snapped a photo of one of his masterpieces before being told that is not allowed (I swear, it was an innocent mistake, as photos were allowed at other museums in Nice!). I've started to develop a thing for the little train stations that I pass along the way, so here's the one in Antibes too.

Obviously, it's important not to stand up on the wall,
 and then fall off!
